The High Prosecutorial Council has reacted after statements made by Prime Minister Edi Rama about SPAK and GJKKO, regarding the arrest of Mayor Erion Veliaj.
Through a statement to the media, the KLP emphasizes that the institution of the Prosecutor's Office must exercise its function independently, impartially and in accordance with the law.
The KLP also writes in the announcement that the Council requests all actors to respect the independence and professional integrity of prosecutors, writes A2 CNN.
This is because, according to them, the Independence of the Prosecutor's Office is a cornerstone for citizens' trust in justice institutions and for guaranteeing a fair and transparent legal system.
