A serious accident, with two trams that collided head-on, took place in Strasbourg, France, leaving 20 people injured.
The prefecture of Bas-Rhin has confirmed the number of injured in the accident that happened in the afternoon. The two trams collided in the tunnel leading to the city station, the prefecture's announcement states.
Strasbourg's own fire brigade reported an "accident involving trams at the central station in Strasbourg" , via a post on platform 'X'.
They also called for the avoidance of "the areas of Place des Halles, Gare, Boulevard du Président -Wilson" in order to facilitate the movement of emergency vehicles in the area.

According to Compagnie des Transports Strasbourgeois managers, the two tram drivers were not physically injured, but were left very shaken. An investigation will be launched to carry out an analysis by CTS technicians that will lead to clarifying the circumstances of the accident.
As such, a large security perimeter has been set up in front of the station, where numerous ambulances are seen transporting the injured to the city's hospitals.
