Prime Minister Edi Rama presented today in Elbasan the project for the construction of the Automotopark, which will serve as an international sports complex, according to the highest standards of the FIA and FIM, and which, according to the head of government, will also welcome the most prestigious Formula 1 races.
The head of government described the project as a new engine for the country's economy, while reiterating that the Formula 1 race in Elbasan will be followed by 1 billion people around the world.
"We are developing the Auto Moto Park project, a fully detailed project in collaboration with Formula 1, following all the suggestions or addressing all the criticisms of the team made available to this project by the executive director of Formula 1. The ambition is for Albania 2030 to be the host country of the Formula 1 race, something inconceivable until some time ago. It is not about an investment for a race, but to install a new engine in the Albanian economy. This project is an economy, not a car race because over the course of 360 days of the year, this project will create a destination, where road safety will be at its center and from small children to adults who drive a car, they will have to refer to this center for the relevant tests that will be part of our being a member of the EU. Our model for this is the center in Vienna, but as you noticed from the presentation of the project, with the Formula 1 technical team, a project has been built that within the family itself "Formula 1 is innovative for a series of solutions that have been suggested by Formula 1's technical staff," said Rama.
Rama further emphasized that the Automotopark project further advances the vision of joining Elbasan with Tirana as a metropolis of the next decade.
"We are moving forward to further the vision of the unification of Tirana with Elbasan, and the joining of Elbasan with Tirana as a limb of a metropolis that is increasingly taking shape as the metropolis of the next decade centered in Tirana, with the Durrës seaport and extension to the northeast in Dibër and with this arm in Elbasan, where important infrastructures such as the European network of corridors, Corridor 8, also pass through," declared the chief executive.
