A man holding two swords and threatening police in a French city has been seriously injured after officers shot him.
The incident occurred on a busy street in Vitry-sur-Seine, near Paris, at 5:40 p.m., when the man directly threatened police officers and refused to put down his weapons.
Media reports say a police officer on duty spotted the man holding a sword in each hand.
A team of police officers intervened, but the suspect threatened the police by approaching the officers. A police officer then shot him twice with his service weapon.
The police officer who opened fire was also the one who gave first aid to the aggressor, and was then assisted by firefighters and emergency services. The possibility of a possible terrorist attack appears to have been ruled out, but the Créteil public prosecutor's office is keeping the case under review.
The author is already in the hospital and his life is out of danger.
